Genetic Resources Management Program

Genetic Resources Management Program has a mission of conservation and promotion of sustainable utilization of genetic resources. These genetic resources comprise plants, animal and microbial genetic resources. Through the national gene bank, the program is responsible for efficient storage of information and genetic resources, and making them available for sustainable use. However, prior to this, there is exploration and collection of these genetic resources with more focus on genetic resources under threat .The program has also responsibilities to implement the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA) and other related conventions.
