The National Animal Genetic improvement Center is one of the divisions under Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board under the Directorate of Animal Resources Development.

Functions of the Division are the following:

• To ensure the availability of quality and genetically superior breeding germplasm;
• Bovine and pig semen collection and processing;
• Liquid Nitrogen production and facilitating the availability of artificial insemination (AI) inputs;
• Reproductive biotechnology (Embryo transfer and AI…etc);
• Capacity building of AI stakeholders on bovine and pig artificial insemination, cattle reproductive management and AI inputs handling (especially, Liquid Nitrogen);
• Facilitating and supervising the cattle and pig artificial insemination across the country;
• Strengthening the animal genetic improvement;
