Musanze Station

Musanze station is located at 1860m altitude, 1030’8’’S, 29037’52’’E in Muhoza sector, Musanze District, Northern province. Before, it was Centre PNAP established in 1979 with focus on potato research and extension activities. Later on, in 2000 other research commodity programs activities (Beans, Wheat, Maize, Horticulture, Soil and water management and Livestock) were extended to this Centre. It has an experimental site located at 2300m of altitude (1°25'6’’ S, 29°35'25’’ E) in Kinigi sector, Musanze district dedicated for research trials, seed multiplication and livestock. The climate in Musanze station is warm and temperate. There is significant rainfall throughout the year. Even the driest month still has a lot of rainfall. In Musanze station, the average annual temperature is 17.8 °C. The rainfall here averages 1302 mm.

Musanze station supervises agriculture and livestock activities in three districts of the Northern Province (Musanze, Rulondo and Gakenke).
