Gishwati Station is one of 13 Stations of RAB working in Ngororero and Nyabihu Districts.

It is located in Western Province, Nyabihu District, Mulinga sector, Gakamba cell. It has two working sites; Gatindori site measuring 203 ha reserved exclusively by cattle livestock and PNAP site with 100 ha which one part is reserved for agriculture mainly potato seed production and another for livestock.

As the one of the Stations of the whole country helps RAB to reach its goals and mission. It promotes research and extension in Agriculture and animal resources by making a focus on research for efficiency and effective productivity.

A part of station’s daily activities, Gishwati station is coordinating all agricultural and livestock activities in two district NYABIHU and NGORORERO. The station is in collaboration with Districts and conducting the following programs in global:

• Crop Intensification Program

• Post-harvest handling

• Land husbandry and integrated soil fertility management

• Cash crop program

• Livestock program(LIP)

• Small Scale Irrigation Program(SSIT)

• Horticulture program

1.Crops production &Food security

• Selling Potato Seed to seed Multipliers

• Support Crop Production (Extension services regarding to agriculture)

• Training farmers in Post-harvest- handling and storage

• Training on Soil Erosion Control by enhancing and empowering terraces built.

• Coaching and train citizen on Kitchen Garden promotion for eradicating malnutrition.

• Training on using for fertilisers and seeds.

• Preparation of agro-dealers for inputs demand and supply to farmers

• Consistence training to the extension agents such as Farmer promoters ( FPs) and Farmer Field school facilitators(FFs)

• Training private seed multiplier.
