Gakuta station is one of 13 stations of RAB. It covers agriculture and livestock activities in two districts namely Karongi and Rutsiro. The main office is located at KARONGI Pension Plaza.

Research and extension activities are carried out in 13 sectors of Karongi and 13 sectors of Rutsiro Districts. Seed production activities are implemented on two sites of the station: Gakuta site located in Karongi District, Twumba sector, Gakuta cell. This site has almost 100ha. Another site named RUFUNGO is located in Rutsiro District, Mukura sector, Mwendo cell has almost 20.2ha. Gakuta Station is also in charge of fishery and aquaculture development activities in western province.
