Tamira station is one of the stations of Rwanda Agriculture  and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB), it is located in Western province specifically in Rubavu District, In Bugeshi Sector,in the North at 4km, is the National park of Birunga,West at 6km is the small border separetes Rwanda and DRC,in Est is Mudende  Sector and in South Busasamana Sector and 12km from  the main road of Musanze-Rubavu.Tamira Station is at 2400m of altitude and annual average of Temperature is 150c and the highest Rain fall is at 1450mm per year except the month of June, July and August; the summer  season. It promotes research and extension in Agriculture and animal resources by making a focus on research for efficiency and effective productivity.
Programs Operate Under Tamira Station: 
    Seed production and multiplication (Potatoes):
-    Planning on station activities
-    Follow up of all activities related to seed production on farm of Tamira station relative to crop production.
-    Producing mini tubers, prebasic, basic potatoes seed.
-    Mobilizing and training seed producers on good quality seed.
-    Follow up positive selection on potatoes farmers to increase quantity of potatoes seed.
-    Reporting of production.

    Post-harvest handling:
-    Planning and monitoring of all postharvest activities among station programs.
-    Organizing training of trainers for agriculture officers on GAP for proper handling and storage of crops   and mitigating of aflatoxin of maize and mycotoxins.
-    Postharvest reduced and quality of produce improved for CIP crops.
-    Following and reporting on District CIP activities.
-    Assessment of current status of aflatoxins and other mycotoxins contamination in maize crops.
-    Introducing mycotoxin control using biological techniques through research 
-    Increased awareness among stakeholders on aflatoxin mitigation measures through training and development of training manuals.

    Land husbandry and integrated soil fertility management.
-    Conducting trials for fertilizer new formulation in the frame work of support research fertilizer recommendation in Ngororero  
-    Conducting trials for new formulation under OCP.

    Livestock program:
-    Serology: 
-    Rapid agglutination).
-    Helminthological: 
-    Sedimentation
-    Flotation.
-    Protozoology: 
-    blood smear
-    Delivering of animal export movement permit for small stock from Rubavu to DRC

    Horticulture program:
-    Follow up of Apple trees farm management activities in Rutagara station site.
-    Follow up of Fruit species seedlings management activities for Tamarillo and Maracuja produced in nursery of Rutagara station site and planted in Rutagara site farm. 
-    Distribute Tamarillo and Maracuja seedlings produced in Tamira station sites to farmers of Rubavu and other districts requesting them.
-    Follow up and report all activities relative to horticulture  
Research activities in Tamira station are done within the programs mentioned above that are operating in Tamira station and the extension is done in the whole Rubavu District area.
