Ntendezi Station
Ntendezi station is located at 1585 m a.s.l, at 2026’44’’ S (Latitude) and 2902’21’’ E (Longitude) in Ntendezi cell, Ruharambuga sector, Nyamasheke District, Western Province. RAB Ntendezi Station serves farmers of Nyamasheke and Rusizi districts in terms of agriculture and animal resources development. Main activities carried out in the Station focus on seed production for suitable crops such as beans, irish potatoes, maize, rice (in Bugarama) and Horticulture as well as industrial crops namely tea and coffee. In addition, the Station plays a great role in extension services aiming at disseminating innovations among farmers in crop production, harvesting and post-harvest handling. The research on the foresaid commodities is possible because the Station has three experimental sites: Ntendezi site for food crops, Bugarama site for mainly rice, horticulture and cassava and Mwito site for industrial crops.
Apart from agriculture, RAB-Ntendezi Station also performs activities related to livestock and ensures the smooth implementation of livestock programs in Rusizi and Nyamasheke districts. Main activities focus on extension services and capacity building in animal production and health.
