The Director General Receives Lawrence Kent of the Gates Foundation
March 25, 2025 – The Director General of the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB) held a courtesy meeting with Mr. Lawrence Kent, Senior Program Officer for Agricultural Development at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The meeting took place within the framework of the Rwanda Agri-Biotech Program, a collaborative initiative funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and implemented by the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) in partnership with RAB.
The program aims to enhance agricultural productivity and food security in Rwanda through the development of biotech crops, including late blight-resistant potato, virus-resistant cassava, and drought- and insect-resistant maize.
The meeting, which was also attended by researchers from AATF and RAB, focused on strengthening technical and regulatory capacities to ensure the timely and successful implementation of the project.
