RAB receives an M&E delegation from NCST

On March 26, 2024, the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board at Muhanga Station welcomed a delegation from the National Council for Science and Technology (NCST). Their visit aimed to assess the implementation status of the Indigenous Chicken Project, which received funding from NCST with the aim of contributing to sustainable growth in the poultry sector in Rwanda. The project seeks to develop market-driven solutions to incentivize indigenous chicken (IC) producers, as well as the public and private sectors, to invest in sustainable productivity.

During their visit, the delegation expressed appreciation for the diligent implementation of the project, acknowledging the comprehensive efforts made by the implementing team in executing various components.

Since its inception in 2022, the project has garnered praise for its achievements. Notably, it has developed research protocols, evaluated local feed options, formulated feeds for indigenous chickens, and provided training to 50 female and youth beneficiaries. Additionally, the project has facilitated collaboration between professors at ILRI and Egerton University, further enhancing its potential for success.
