RAB, FAO and RICA Hold Mechanization Day in Kirehe District

On February 26, 2026, the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB), in collaboration with FAO Rwanda and the Rwanda Institute of Conservation Agriculture (RICA), organized a Mechanization Day at the COVAMIS Cooperative in the Mpanga Irrigation Scheme, Mpanga Sector, Kirehe District.

The event was organized in partnership with Kirehe District and other stakeholders to promote Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (SAM) and Conservation Agriculture (CA) through technical capacity development and practical field implementation.

The initiative also aims to strengthen business models for mechanization services, particularly for farmer field school facilitators, farmer organizations, and mechanization service providers.

As part of the project, Mechanization Days are being conducted in pilot sites to showcase and disseminate agricultural mechanization innovations and practices. Through exhibitions and practical demonstrations, the event provides farmers and stakeholders with an opportunity to learn about modern farm machinery, share knowledge, and improve access to mechanization services.

The Mechanization Day in Kirehe follows a similar event that was previously held at the Rwangingo Rice Scheme in Gatsibo District on December 26, 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to promote sustainable agricultural mechanization across different pilot sites.
