RAB, FAO, and RICA Hold Mechanization Day in Gatsibo District

Huye, December 23, 2025 — The Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB), in collaboration with FAO Rwanda and the Rwanda Institute of Conservation Agriculture, organized a Mechanization Day at the Rwangingo Rice Scheme in Gatsibo District.

The event aimed to promote mechanized agriculture among small-scale farmers, enhance farmer engagement, and inspire the next generation to view agriculture as a technologically advanced and viable career path.

Participants witnessed field demonstrations of various mechanized farm operations, exhibitions of modern agricultural machinery, and received practical information on accessing farm equipment through ownership or hiring services, as well as available financing opportunities.

Speaking at the event, Dr Florence Uwamahoro, Acting Director General of RAB, urged farmers to embrace mechanized farming, highlighting that RAB is in the process of establishing a Mechanization Center of Excellence, which will play a key role in providing training and supporting the development of small-scale industries manufacturing agricultural equipment.
