RAB Conducts Animal Resources Development Staff and Partners Retreat

The Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB), through the Deputy Directorate General in charge of Animal Resources Development (DDG-ARD), organized an Animal Resources Development Staff and Partners Retreat from 13 to 16 January 2026. The retreat brought together RAB programmes, the Single Project Implementation Unit (SPIU), and central-level stakeholders to assess the implementation status of the Animal Resources Imihigo/Action Plan across programmes and institutions.

Participants reviewed progress, achievements, and challenges in the implementation of the Animal Resources Imihigo/Action Plan at programme, SPIU, and central levels. They also examined existing livestock and fisheries policies, strategies, and operational frameworks to assess their alignment with the National Strategy for Transformation (NST2) and the Strategic Plan for the Transformation of Agriculture (PSTA 5).

In addition, the retreat assessed the integration and performance of livestock risk management mechanisms, including livestock insurance. It further clarified the roles and responsibilities of RAB programmes, platforms, districts, and partners. The retreat concluded with the identification of priority actions and recommendations aimed at improving performance and strengthening coordination in the upcoming implementation period.
