RAB AND THE WORLD VEGETABLE CENTER CONDUCT FIELD DAYS ON VEGETABLE FARMING TECHNOLOGY AWARENESS
The Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board, in partnership with the World Vegetable Center through the "Accelerated Innovation Delivery Initiative (AID-I): Great Lakes Project," conducted field days in Rwamagana, Rusizi, Rubavu, Karongi, and Kayonza. The focus was on showcasing cutting-edge technology in vegetable farming, particularly grafting tomato technology, and promoting Good Agricultural Practices.
During the event, RAB horticulture staff met with cooperative members to discuss the advantages of plastic versus grass mulching and other different technologies in vegetable farming, whether in greenhouses or on fields, for enhanced vegetable yields. The goal is to address malnutrition and generate income through vegetable farming. This comparative analysis aims to highlight and compare the benefits and results of the demonstrated methods to what farmers are currently practicing in their fields.
The event serves as a platform for information exchange, allowing farmers to observe the effectiveness of the technology. The ultimate goal is to encourage farmers to consider adopting both technology and good agricultural practices for improved agricultural outcomes.
