Ambassador Einat Weiss visits the Rwanda-Israel Horticulture Center of Excellence
On August 25th, 2023, the Israeli Ambassador to Rwanda, H.E Ambassador Einat Weiss, paid a visit to the Rwanda-Israel Center of Excellence for Horticultural Development. During this significant visit, Ambassador Weiss engaged in substantial discussions with Dr. Florence Uwamahoro, the Deputy Director-General for Agricultural Development.
The core of their discussions revolved around Israel's pivotal role in elevating horticulture through cutting-edge technology, particularly in the realm of high-quality seedling production. Additionally, they deeply delved into understanding the operational intricacies of the center, while also strategizing on avenues to transition horticulture from traditional practices into a more business-oriented framework.
Following these enlightening and fruitful discussions, Ambassador Einat Weiss proceeded to undertake a comprehensive tour of the center. This allowed her to directly witness and comprehend the intricate process of cultivating seedlings in the nursery, showcasing the innovative methods and technology imported from Israel.
The Horticulture Center of Excellence, situated in Mulindi within the City of Kigali, stands as a collaborative effort between Rwanda and Israel. Its primary purpose is to fortify the expertise of Rwandan researchers, extension agents, and both small-scale and commercial farmers. This is achieved through the transfer of practical skills and knowledge, among other valuable resources.
